John and Orla's Wedding - Love in Donadea Forest

August 01, 2012  •  Leave a Comment
John and Orla met by chance 8 years ago in Johnstownbridge, Kildare, where Orla was born and raised and working in a local shop at the time. John (from Clonmel) happened to be the head electrician at the Hamlet Court Hotel development in the town. Their romance blossomed and on their 8th year anniversary John proposed to Orla during a romantic holiday in Malta. John and Orla revisited the Hamlet Court Hotel, the place where they first set eyes on each other, to celebrate their wedding and their new future together. It doesn't get more romantic than that!!
Orla chose the very first wedding dress she tried on for her special day. It was love at first site! Orla chose a Pronovias dress from 'The White Room in Mullingar'. I think you will agree this style is both elegant and classic! A real beauty....
It was an emotional wedding all round as Orla's younger sisters flew in from London and Melbourne to be her bridesmaids and help with the wedding preparations. The girls found their dresses in Ophelia in Dundalk. They went very well with the Forest themed photo shoot later that day!

On the 4th of May, 2012 in the same church that Orla wore her communion dress, her father walked her up the aisle to Chris de Burgh's "In a country church yard" to her John, her husband, her future.

After a simple and elegant service we headed to Donadea Forest for some photos. What a stunning locations for a photo shoot.....

That evening John and Orla celebrated with their guests at the Hamlet Court Hotel. The champagne was flowing, lanterns were flickering and the music was flowing from the 'Black Nights'.

All the best to you both, John and Orla, on your new future together!

Robert & Ruth's Wedding in Tulfarris, Wicklow

Robert and Ruth, got married on the 28th of April this year and celebrated their day at the lovely Tulfarris Hotel Resort in Wicklow. Robert and Ruth are both from Templeogue, actually only 5 minutes from each other, so as you can imagine it all began as a neighbourhood romance several years ago.

Robert and Ruth chose to have the wedding preparations in each of their parents' homes where they grew up so it was ideal to call into the groom for some shots before I headed over to Ruth for the rest of the morning.
Ruth chose an elegant gown with a flattering neckline and low cut back finished with a beautiful bow details. A true beauty!

I absolutely LOVED Ruth's bouquet. She knew she always wanted a pretty broach bouquet for her special day but she took it one step further. Ruth asked each of her friends to donate a piece of unused or broken jewellery to make the bouquet and pieces came in from all over Ireland and abroad. The result is a beautiful, colourful piece of sentimental art that she will treasure for years to come.  A truly beautiful idea Ruth!

After a lovely ceremony in Templeogue Parish, we headed off to the Blessington lakes with the bridesmaids and groomsmen for a quick photo shoot. The wind was blowing and the sun was shinning - perfect ingredients for pretty pictures!

Robert and Ruth chose the beautiful Tulfarris Hotel and Golf Resort for their reception. And we just had to take advantage of these stunning windows in the Manor House.

Robert isn't the only man in Ruth's life, here they are with their adorable little boy, Cian!

Thank you Robert and Ruth for sharing your day - wishing you all the best in your future together!

Audrey and David's Wedding in Brooklodge, Wicklow

I had the pleasure of capturing David and Audrey's beautiful wedding at BrookLodge Hotel in Wicklow on the 23rd of March this year. What a beautiful spot to celebrate your wedding! I had the opportunity to shoot other weddings at Brooklodge and it is a real pleasure to arrive at a venue to begin a long day's work to be greeted by the loveliest, friendliest wedding co-ordinators you could ask for. Gillian and Niamh are just brilliant and they were so helpful throughout the day. Thank you girls!
Brooklodge is a beautiful country house hotel with stunning grounds set deep in a Wicklow valley only 1 hour from Dublin. The venue also has a quaint little chapel on it's grounds which seats up to 150 people for those that wish to tie the knot on the grounds.

I visited Audrey's room in Brooklodge on this lovely sunny morning to find a buzz of activity with make-up and hairdressing in full swing. Audrey's sister, Aideen, had the pleasure of being bridesmaid for the day and wear one of the prettiest bridesmaids dresses I have ever seen. Aideen tried her best to hold back the tears as she watched her beautiful sister Audrey step into her stunning gown.
Audrey chose a very elegant vintage style for her wedding and my goodness did she look the part! A touch of old style Hollywood class! I just love the lace gloves and delicate bouquet.

A little tip for brides to be - invest in a pretty hanger to hold up your gown. It looks great in photographs. Much better than a regular hanger I think you will agree.
Window light is simply beautiful and makes all the difference to these shots. It is important for brides to decide where to get ready on the morning of their big day so wherever you are on the morning try to chose a room with good natural light and plenty of space.
Just before I left I asked Audrey to sit next to the window and shot some bridal portraits before I headed off to meet the groom in the local church. David and Audrey celebrated their wedding ceremony in the local church in Aughrim village, 5 minutes from Brooklodge.
David waits at the altar anticipating his future wife's arrival. Audrey gracefully made her way up the aisle with her proud father to be greeted by her beaming, handsome groom.

After a beautiful ceremony the newly weds were greeted back at Brooklodge with some champagne and we began our photo shoot on the surrounding grounds.

Picture perfect sisters Audrey and Aideen look like a couple of princesses in these shots. I am looking forward to shooting these lovely ladies again in September when Aideen will be the one walking down the aisle this time.
David and his best man Jack shared lots of laughs that day, especially when the videographer (also named Jack) fell into the brook as we were shooting!
Audrey and David make their way back to their reception where they are greeted by their fabulous guests to celebrate their first evening together as husband and wife.

Carla and Peter's Wedding

Carla and Peter tied the knot on the 2nd of January this year. This was my first wedding of 2012 and what a lovely way to kickstart the New Year. Carla and Peter had an intimate ceremony at Straholmog Church followed by a reception at the beautiful Bellinter House Hotel.
On the morning, I visited Carla at her mother's home in Clontarf where she was getting ready. The house was full of life and excitement to say the least.
Carla chose a fabulous 1920's vintage wedding dress to walk down the aisle in paired with a stylish fascinator and a pair of sparkling Jimmy Choos. She looked both elegant and stylish!
Meanwhile her husband-to-be, Peter, was grooming himself in the lovely bridal suite of Bellinter House before he headed off to the picturesque church.
Carla arrived to the church in a white vintage car and quickly stepped inside to the warmth and to a very happy groom awaiting her at the top of the aisle.
Following the ceremony, we all headed off to Bellinter House and I spent some time with the lovely newly weds capturing their fist moments together as husband and wife.
Shortly after the bride's family surprised the couple with a chinese lantern to mark the occassion.
Congratulations to Carla and Peter, you make a lovely couple! All the best in your future together.
